Near Infrared technology for deep dermal heating

The Soprano XL NIR-infrared skin tightening laser is a new and effective treatment for improving skin laxity without surgery or downtime. The procedure uses a safe infrared light to heat the water content in the tissue deep below the skins surface causing collagen fibers to contract and tighten to smooth out fine lines and sagging skin. The heat also stimulates fibroblasts which repairs cells in your skin to produce new collagen and helping the skin against further ageing.
The deep dermal heating treatment works with IN-Motion technology to deliver uniform energy distribution that produces dramatic, yet comfortable deep dermal heating without damage to the epidermis to treat minor muscle pain, joint pain and stiffness, minor joint pain associated with arthritis; may also help muscle spasms, minor sprains and strains, and minor muscular back pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

NIR is suitable for all skin types and most areas of the body, including areas of skin with cellulite

The areas we treat most often are:

  • chin and jowls
  • crow’s feet
  • forehead
  • neck and décolleté
  • upper arms
  • hands
  • abdomen
  • thighs
  • The NIR procedure uses a safe level of infrared light that is able to penetrate the deeper layers of skin. The light energy heats the water in the skin tissue and causes collagen fibres to contract and tighten.
  • It works with your body to naturally stimulate the production of new collagen, achieving effective results without the risks and costs associated with plastic surgery or Botox anti-wrinkle injections.
  • It also stimulates fibroblasts to repair skin cells and produce new collagen. This helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and gives long-lasting firmness to sagging skin.
  • Before we start the treatment, we apply a cooling gel to your skin.
  • We then pass the NIR handpiece over the targeted areas of your skin.
  • This heats up your skin until it reaches a working temperature of between 39 and 42 degrees Centigrade. We maintain this temperature for a further 10 to 15 minutes.
  • The treatments typically takes 30-40 minutes, depending on the body area being treated
  • You should not feel any pain during NIR skin tightening.
  • You will feel a warm sensation, similar to being on a sun bed, which at most might be slightly uncomfortable.
  • The handpiece has a built-in cooling system to prevent the surface layer of your skin becoming too warm.
  • We can apply more cooling gel, though, if you do start to feel uncomfortable.

Just prior to the treatment protective eye wear will be provided and a cool gel will be applied to the area to be treated. The NIR hand piece is then passed over the treatment area in a sweeping motion. During the treatment the skin temperature of the treated area will be closely monitored with a special infrared thermometer to ensure that your skin is receiving a sufficient level of heat necessary to warm up the water content of your skin and stimulate collagen production.

During the skin tightening treatment, you will feel a warm sensation as the infrared energy is delivered to the deeper layers of the skin. While the infrared energy is heating the dermis, continuous contact cooling is keeping the skin’s outer layer cool and comfortable. The treatment is generally considered by most to be ‘near’ painless, with only a warm sensation or feeling of heat felt during the treatment.

After your treatment, you can expect the treated area to be slightly flushed. For most patients this normally subsides within a few hours, although for some it may last for 24 hours. Make up can be applied after the treatment and generally you can go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.

The effectiveness of laser Skin Tightening treatments is dependent on the characteristics and severity of your loose skin. Laser Skin Tightening works best if you have mild to moderate laxity and sagging in the cheek, jawline and/or neck and mild looseness with minimal stretch marks on your abdomen. Patients between 30 and 65 are generally good candidates for this type of procedure.

  • Most people, though, benefit from a course of 3 to 6 treatments, at intervals of up to 3 weeks.
  • A few patients may need up to 8 treatments, depending on their skin condition and expectations.
  • Multiple treatments are required depending on your skin’s laxity, the area to be treated and the results you desire. Typically a course of up to six treatments is recommended at 2-4 week intervals. The complex process of new collagen formation means that the results will continue to improve and develop for up to 6 months after completion of your treatment course. Due to the continual ageing process, results typically last 1-2 years, however, we recommend that you have a maintenance treatment once or twice a year to maintain the stimulation of your collagens reproduction.
  • During your consultation for the procedure, we will discuss the number and frequency of treatments that you need to achieve optimal results, beside practising exercises.

Note:

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, have taken Roaccutane in the past 6 months or you are taking any photosensitising medication you should not receive laser treatment.
